Lockdown Playground - Limited Edition Print - Edition Of 50

£30.00

Limited Edition A3 Art Print by Ian Barrett

A beautiful, signed and numbered limited edition print from an original painting inspired by the strange and often poignant days of the Covid lockdowns.

The Story Behind the Artwork

This painting was inspired by countless lockdown visits with my daughter Ruby to our local park, Fog Lane Park in Didsbury, Manchester.

For much of the summer of 2020, the children's playground was locked shut.

Ruby would sadly peer through the railings at the deserted play equipment, while the grass around the swings and slides grew longer and longer.

It was a familiar sight during those extraordinary months, a place designed for laughter and play standing empty and silent.

Eventually the playground reopened, but for Ruby and so many other children, it had been paradise postponed for a very long time.

The original artwork was created using watercolour and acrylic paints on cartridge paper, measuring 59cm x 42cm.

Work began in autumn 2020 and the painting was completed on 2 January 2021.
